Post-wedding

Bou Bhaat

The Bengali reception hosted by the groom's family, with the bride's first meal.

What happens

The Bengali reception hosted by the groom's family a day or two after the wedding: the bride is formally welcomed and served her first meal in her new home (the bou bhaat, literally the bride's rice), and the groom's side then hosts a dinner for the bride's family and their guests.

Vendors: catering, decor for the stage and the dining room, a photographer and videographer, and a planner when the two families' events fall a day apart.
