Wedding day

Poruwa ceremony

The Sinhalese ceremony on the decorated platform, at the auspicious time.

What happens

The Sinhalese Buddhist wedding on the decorated poruwa platform, at the nekath (the auspicious time): the ashtaka chanted by the master of ceremonies, the exchange of rings and betel leaves, the tying of the little fingers, the jayamangala gatha sung by girls in white, and the couple's descent from the poruwa to the magul bera drums.

Vendors: the poruwa decorator, the ashtaka master of ceremonies, the jayamangala gatha singers and the drummers, a photographer and videographer, and a planner to hold the nekath timing.
