How GigSona works

Every event, every vendor, one plan.

GigSona is where you plan a South Asian celebration and book the people who make it happen — across Canada, in one place instead of forty browser tabs and a group chat.

How to book South Asian wedding vendors on GigSona

Map out your celebration

A South Asian wedding is rarely one event. Add your mehndi, sangeet, ceremony, reception — whatever your family is planning — and GigSona keeps each one separate, with its own date, city, guest count and the vendors it still needs.

Find the right vendors

Browse South Asian wedding vendors by category and city across Canada, and shortlist from real profiles — portfolio, services, and the ceremonies each vendor has actually worked, from mehndi and sangeet to the reception. Save the ones you like to your celebration and keep them there while you decide.

Ask once, properly

Request a quote and GigSona attaches your event details and a few questions specific to that category — hours of coverage, guest count, music style — so vendors can quote you accurately instead of replying “depends, let’s hop on a call.”

Compare and decide

Quotes for the same event sit side by side, itemised, so you're comparing like with like. When you approve one, you pay through GigSona rather than handing card details to someone you have just met — and the cancellation terms you agreed to are fixed at that moment, in writing.

What it costs you

Browsing, planning, requesting quotes and messaging vendors are free — there is no membership and no charge to be introduced to anyone.

When you book and pay a vendor through GigSona, a 5% service fee is added to their price, capped at $500 in total for each vendor across all the events in one celebration — book the same caterer for your mehndi, ceremony and reception and you pay that $500 once, not three times. You always see the full amount before you agree to anything.

Common questions

Does GigSona cost anything to use?
Browsing vendors, planning your events, requesting quotes and messaging vendors are all free. A 5% service fee applies only when you book and pay a vendor through GigSona, and it is capped at $500 in total for each vendor across all the events in one celebration — so booking the same vendor for several of your events never charges that cap more than once.
Do I have to plan my whole wedding to request one quote?
No. If you only need a photographer, request a quote from a photographer — GigSona creates the event behind the scenes so the vendor has a date and city to quote against. The full planner is there if you want it, not a prerequisite.
Is it safe to pay through GigSona?
You pay through GigSona's payment provider, Stripe — your card details never reach the vendor. Your vendor is not paid the moment you book. The final balance — most of the money — is only ever released after your event, and a vendor taking their first GigSona booking has everything held until after the event, so a vendor who disappears has not walked off with your payment. Vendors who have already completed a GigSona event receive their deposit share earlier, once your refund window for it has closed. The cancellation and refund terms are shown before you approve, and fixed in writing onto your booking at that moment, so they cannot be changed afterwards.
How many vendors will contact me?
Only the ones you contact. GigSona does not sell your details or blast your request to a list of vendors — you choose who to ask, and your request goes to them alone.
What information do vendors see about me?
Your name and the details of the event you're asking about — date, city, guest count and your answers to that category's questions. Your venue is private to you unless you share it, and contact details are exchanged once you approve a quote.
Can I use GigSona for an event that isn't a wedding?
Yes. Birthdays, anniversaries, religious celebrations, corporate events and private parties can all be planned the same way, and most vendors on GigSona work them.
What if my dates or guest count change?
Edit the event in your plan at any time. Nothing is locked until you approve a quote, and a vendor you've already spoken to can send you a revised one.
