What happens
The days at home before a Punjabi or Pakistani wedding: the bride (and the groom, on his side) is rubbed with vatna or ubtan, a paste of turmeric, mustard oil and gram flour, by the married women of the family, while the house fills with relatives, songs and food. Mayun often runs several evenings, with dholki or jaggo nights folded in.
Vendors: decor (a marigold or floral seating area for the ceremony), a photographer, dhol players or singers for the evenings, and catering for the open-house crowd.
