Pre-wedding

Puja or prayer ceremony

A prayer or blessing before the wedding, at home or at the place of worship.

What happens

A prayer or blessing before the wedding: a Ganesh puja or grah shanti in Hindu families, an akhand path or sukhmani sahib in Sikh families, a milad or dua in Muslim families. Usually in the morning, at home or at the place of worship, and followed by a meal (prasad or langar).

Vendors: an officiant or the family's own priest, decor for the altar or the room (florals, a backdrop, seating), catering, and a photographer who knows when to stay quiet.
